Poll question: Waiter drops a drink on you. Should you get a free drink? |
|
I was out last night. The waiter dropped an entire drink on me. Not just a little, but the whole thing, broken glass going everywhere. He was very apologetic and send "next round is on me." When the bill came there was not a damn thing taken off. Having worked in food service, I didn't throw a hissy about it. I'm sure some people would have screamed until their entire bill was comped.
As it turns out, this waiter was pretty bad overall. Overcharging for things, slow service, wouldn't give us happy hour prices at 5 minutes til.

1. He already gave you a free drink! (you were wearing it) |
|
Or, when he said "the next round is on me" you should have spilled the next round on him.

And I've dropped a drink on a guy, once. The manager took off the drink and gave him a free dessert. But if it happens again, the money comes out of MY pocket. We get a free time I guess. Look, it wasn't like your waiter purposely spilt the drink on you (and who knows, he could have been new). Most often, the managers are the ones who decide what you get and what you don't. I'm sure your server felt realllly bad about it. If that was all he did bad, I would've said to ignore it, but considering the service was bad, I would've let his tip reflect on that.
