9. Yep. That's the one alright...
That song, "Starting Over," and "Watching The Wheels"...to have them all come out at once after a L-O-N-G period of NOTHING...

:toast:

3. His songs are all my favorites but had to go with GOD
God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I'll say it again,
God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I don't believe in magic,
I don't believe in I-ching,
I don't believe in bible,
I don't believe in tarot,
I don't believe in Hitler,
I don't believe in Jesus,
I don't believe in Kennedy,
I don't believe in Buddha,
I don't believe in mantra,
I don't believe in Gita,
I don't believe in yoga,
I don't believe in kings,
I don't believe in Elvis,
I don't believe in Zimmerman,
I don't believe in Beatles,
I just believe in me,
Yoko and me,
And that's reality.
The dream is over,
What can I say?
The dream is over,
Yesterday,
I was dreamweaver,
But now I'm reborn,
I was the walrus,
But now I'm John,
And so dear friends,
You just have to carry on,
The dream is over.

6. Too hard to name one ......
Luck of the Irish; Instant Karma; Give Peace A Chance; I could go on and on.

My favorite songs might be In My Life and A Day In the Life.

In 6th grade, my band did a mean Strawberry Fields Forever. In college, with the proper amount of booze, I did a good Don't Let Me Down. But that was more than a hundred years ago, I think .....

11. Julia, Across the Universe, Strawberry Fields Forever
I've been practicing "Real Love" on the piano lately. Just seems like a good one to know in case I'm called upon. So I've got that one stuck in my head.

12. Give Me Some Truth
I'm sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

I've had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for rope

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
Money for dope
Money for rope

I'm sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mama's little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth now

I've had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
It's money for dope
Money for rope

Ah, I'm sick and tired of hearing things
from uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

I've had enough of reading things
by neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

17. Is it true
that "Imagine" was banned from the airwaves after 9/11? I think I heard something about oldies stations not playing it. I did hear "Happy Xmas/War is Over" on the radio during the holidays, which kind of surprised (and pleased) me.

This poll is quite a mix of major and minor JL songs. It would be interesting to see how more of the major ones, like "Mind Games" and "Number 9 Dream," would poll.

18. Watching the Wheels
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 01:27 PM by SCRUBDASHRUB
WATCHING THE WHEELS
(John Lennon)

People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin
When I say that I'm o.k. well they look at me kind of strange
Surely you're not happy now you no longer play the game

People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me
When I tell them that I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go

Ah, people asking questions lost in confusion
Well I tell them there's no problem, only solutions
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind
I tell them there's no hurry
I'm just sitting here doing time

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go

You can sign a petition to make October 9 (his birthday) "John Lennon Day" an International Holiday For Peace And Love On Earth. I did.
