So Michael Jackson is going to trial
for allegedly groping some kids, and mainstream media is all over it like flies on sh*t...

while George W Bush is responsible for over 1400 needless American deaths, over 10,000 American injuries, and possibly a couple hundred thousand deaths to innocent civilians along with a million civilian injuries in an ill-conceived war for oil that's made the world a more dangerous place...

..but MSM wants us to focus our attention on whether Michael Jackson touched kids or not.

WTF??

From Socrates to Sacco & Vanzetti, wicked states have used trials to crush their enemies and distract the people.

They've got a really winner in the Jacko biz because (at least as far as the media have spun it) he sure LOOKS guilty, and because people of every imaginable political stripe consider child molestation -- and particularly homosexual child molestation -- as awful, terrifying, despicable, and disgusting.

More awful, in fact, than warmongering and killing people thousands of miles away.

The Bushies may not be good at governing, but they're damn good at demagogy.

6. Unfortunately, Michael will be the "Arch-scapegoat" of 2005.
All of america's problems will be purged through this one trial and verdict. The country will again be pure and righteous. No more porn! No more molesting! Welcome to "Scott Peterson Two." Paula, Bill O, Abrams, and Whorrity are salivating so much their mouths are going dry.
Ever wonder why Falwell, Robertson, and Dobson have not specifically condemned Jackson? Could it be that there are large numbers of potential black members-of-the-flock they might piss off if they seem racist? It's business, baby - screw morality!

24. You're too smart for this country...
you're reading too much into it. It's about ratings, that's all. No one is trying to change the world here, they just want to make that extra buck.

I have pity for those of us who will have to hear about it incessantly for the next X months, but I have NO pity for Michael Jackson.

19. Homosexual child molestation?
I realize you are saying that the FREEPERS find this more abominable than "heterosexual" child molestation, but when I read it, it made me sick...as if it's OK if it's an adult man and a little girl. Ick!

3. Clearly he didn't donate any money
to the Bush campaign. Then he, like Ken Lay and others, would never have to face prosecution. I'm not sure this is really sarcasm. That's how far our country has sunken.

4.  It's going to be a HUGE media event
Truthfully, I'm kind of looking forward to it. It's a break from the usual stuff for a change. I'll be occupying the cable nightly news for months, which will probably be too long. I'm anxious to see if Jackson's as much of a freak as think he is, or if it's all garbage.

And I think it will be.

It would serve them right for having their priorities in all the wrong places. Jackson didn't murder anyone.

7. Sexual molestation only makes the news if it doesn't involve Bush
Note the virtual media blackout on sexual mistreatment of Abu Ghraib prisoners. Nary a word about that anymore.

If you're going to be a molester, it helps to be white, connected, and(R).

9. What?
I hope you aren't implying that Michael Jackson shouldn't be tried for molesting children, just because other things are going on in the world.
If YOUR child was molested, would you feel the same way about the molester going on trial?

12. That's not what he's saying
kids get molested all the time in this country. it's a sad fact, but it's not the kind of thing that should suck up all of the media oxygen. If YOUR kid were molested, would you want the details of that molestation aired publicly 24/7? Would your kid? Sure, Jackson should do time if found guilty, but it's not fair to the victims OR to the public to allow this trial to dominate the news when matters that concern the entire nation are left out of most newcasts.

is a public figure. Can't really get around the trial being highly public and publicized.

16. If this were the only wayto prosecute the case, yes, I would
If this were what was needed to effectively prosecute the case, and it were my kid, YES.

And if by doing so I might prevent the same from happening to other kids, yes I would.

The fact that Bush isn't prosecuted for his MORE grievous crimes is no reason for this to not be in the news.

13. Oh, come on.
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 11:41 AM by Enraged_Ape
The poster said nothing about the merits of the case against Michael Jackson (which are for a jury to decide) but rather expressed discontent that this will be all the media will be focusing on for the next six months, while in the meantime far more massive atrocities will be committed every day with nary a word.

But you knew that.

17. No, I didn't know that.
I interpreted the OP as disgust that attention would be paid to the Jackson trial because it was *only* about molestation.

For what it's worth, I hope the Jackson trial doesn't dominate the news either, but it is *newsworthy.* Can we agree on that?

23. I will agree that...
he deserves as much media play as your average, hometown Joe accused of a sex crime would get. Not the hours and hours of courtroom hubbub that will blow everything off the screen for six solid months.

15. Oh for crise sakes. How could you possibly even THINK that?
I never implied anything to the sort, and NO, I do not think MJ should get away with mis-treating children.

That would be about as foolish as me thinking that you don't think MSM should take Bush to task for being responsible for the needless murders of hundreds of thousands of innocent people....and I know you don't think that. Or at least I hope to hell you don't.

22. I'm very glad the Jackson case is in the news so much
This is someone who has used his power and money to protect him while he victimizes children and vulnerable families.

Is it WORSE than Bush's crimes? No.

But I do think it's worth exposing.

25. Is That "MSM" Conspiracy... Secret "MSM" Meetings...
... deciding what Americans need to know and what needs to be kept secret. "MSM" is sending out mind-controlling signals through our TV sets and beaming them into our heads with "MSM" satellites.

BEWARE OF MSM. BEWARE OF MSM.
