Is Elizabeth Edwards a class act or what?

This isn't a politics post, but a comment on John and Elizabeth Edwards' personalities.

Never met them, but I have the notion that they are terrific parents.

I want these people to be my neighbors. Who do I call to get that done?

she posts on DU also. she posts under her own name at times, but she has another name she posts under when she wants to remain anonymous. Chris Heinz does the same thing.

5. I met her when she campaigned for Kerry/Edwards in our town ...

Just watching her up close, she could be VP or maybe even Prez ...lots of down to earth personality, common sense and intelligence of a high level ...

I'm proud to have them as fellow North Carolinians!

I met John when he was running for Senator and had a quick conversation with him (he's a fellow member of the Bar here). Anyway, he was just a really nice regular guy--super smart too!

7. Just before the election - I watched (on CSPAN) her work

a meeting with voters for an hour. She was phenomenal. My mother and I were both watching and just kept uttering... "Wow!" So articulate, wise, good on her feet, clear speaking - making complex ideas very easy to follow and understand. I haven't been so impressed with a single viewing of any political figure that I can ever remember.

I honestly hope that she continues in the public arena (John, too, of course). She could inspire another generation of girls... currently the political women we have the most exposure to seem either insipid (first Lady and first daughters come off as window dressing) or rabid (the wingers who get the most tv time). Elizabeth Edwards is thoughtful, very intelligent, very poised, and very real. Count me as a big fan.

... when I saw her do a town meeting on CSPAN. I'd love to meet her sometime she's one terrific lady. I'm traveling to NC next week and I'll keep in mind that NC has great people like her.

It felt truly "right" to me, and every day I watch Dr. Rice lying to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, or read accounts of Abu Godzilla urging the President of the United States to ignore the Geneva accords, I am reminded that John Kerry and John Edwards were intelligent and humane people with independent, brilliant wives, and that I could have learned a hell of a lot more from them than from anyone Bush has trotted out before our attention.

I think history will rightly ask why U.S. voters chose to re-elect a man who flatly did not have the citizens' best interests at heart.

-- lifted by our convention. I loved Stephanie Tubbs-Jones. I loved Obama. I even loved Bill Clinton -- who, no matter what, can give a speech in front of a crowd of people.

His genuine adoration for her, the fact that she continues to wear a $12 wedding band is a testament to what real values and morals are about. Not the jacked up, false outrage, Republican moral system. :hi: I could not help but smile every time I saw them with their children.

Again, I don't clinically know the exact circumstances, but the impression John and Elizabeth leave with me is that they are parents by which other parents should set their standard.

I loved the address their older daughter gave at the convention. I ate it off the floor. What poise she had. Just a knockout.

I remember one time, I think it was with all four of them together, maybe on 60 minutes and she said a couple things that were like grand slam home-runs. I do not remember what she said. I just remember thinking "I really like her".

my hairdresser had a lot to say about Elizabeth, having worked alongside the girl who was doing her hair before a local appearance. Her comments were negative, but she is a staunch * supporter. Or was, until I talked her out of it. Personally, I admire E. Edwards.

At the beginning of the election, I knew John Edwards had *it* to win an election, but I found him too conservative for my tastes.

But then, Edwards really wowed me at the convention. And I got to see him speak, and man - he, like Dean, makes you want to go out and tear up the pavement for the man!

Then, after the Kerry concession speech, Edwards concession was mad - you could tell he wasn't buying it! He wanted to fight, and fight for us!

Then of course, Elizabeth Edward's post here on DU was awesome - and that whole family is a class act.

Anyway, I liked the expression on John's face during that speech, but even more, I liked the look on his parents' face. I had the notion that he and Elizabeth have the same bedrock pride in their own children as their parents probably have in them. It seemed so palpable, as if it was vibrating out of the tv screen that night.

And let me tell you: it stopped me in my tracks. I like Bill Moyers' range and I like Julian Bond's perspective and I like Alexis Herman's charisma and fire. But the people I think should be nominated for the White House residents next time are John and Elizabeth Edwards.

I also had the chance during the election to see her husband speak several times. Having had the oppurtunity to hear JE, EE and John Kerry I have to say it... I connected most with the Edwards family. I loved John Edwards. There is a man who actually CARES about America.. not about what you can do for him- but what he can do for you. John & Elizabeth are the real deal. I'm hoping to see them again in 2008. I really, really am.

I don't see why not...What happened this time was the sense of inevitability by the time it came here. I think everyone just figured Kerry had won it. It was sort of a rubber stamp on the process. Plus Kerry had been endorsed by Gov. Granholm (and I'm not sure but I think Stabenaw or Levin as well). Interestinly enough, she also endorsed the idea of Edwards being the VP candidate as well quite early on.

I like Kerry, but the whole primary process seems like it could of been a lot more effective. There were also some problems here with voting in AA precincts in Detroit during the primaries.

I think Levin or someone else has also proposed the idea of MI being one of the first primaries. It has a large minority population so their voice would also be taken more into consideration. If there is any change in the process next time, Edwards may have a better shot. He has a great message of economic hope and optimism that should resonate well among the various different groups that make up the base of the party.

We'll see how things look in about 3 years. Things could be very different.

Edwards is moving his family back to North Carolina. (His wife, Elizabeth, is said by aides to be responding well to chemotherapy for breast cancer and is scheduled for a lumpectomy in March.)
