Apple & WalMart To Team Up

Apple Computer has initiated a partnership with Wal-Mart that will soon see the iPod shuffle featured at Wal-Mart discount locations around the country, AppleInsider has learned.

According to sources close to the retail giant, Wal-Mart in April will begin receiving mass quantities of Apple's new iPod shuffle digital music player, which it will then make available in many, if not all, of its nearly 5000 locations.

I love Apple, and use a Mac and have an iPod and all that jazz, but they're starting to piss me off.

First it was,

Apple + Pepsi: Hey! Lets help rot more people's teeth, and make them fatter together!

then Steve Jobs tried to get a deal with McDonalds,

Apple + McDonalds (Steve wanted this deal): Lets help more people get fat and kill themselves!

And now,

Apple + WalMart: Why stop when we're on a roll? Might as well help the most evil corporation on the planet make even more money.

I know Steve is a businessman first, and a liberal second...but c'mon. :eyes:

1. it's ironic but I can't blame Apple

they need to take the fight to M$ and the potential increase in sales is possibly why the deal has been struck.

A great pity and, as I say above, ironic because Walmart are the M$ of the supermarket world.

like a $100 version of the IPOD, except you can't pick the songs, they just come out randomly?

If you just went and looked at the Apple iPod shuffle website you could have answered your question.

Yes, it is a $99, flash based, iPod.

No, you can pick the songs, but they stress the "shuffle" feature, which the iPod shuffle is equipped with, which plays songs in random order.

6. Apple's a business

struggling to gain a bigger share of the computer marketplace. I never shop at Wal Mart but lots of others do, so that's what matters to Apple the most. Wal Mart may be evil, but really no more so than a lot of corporations out there. If Apple was to play hero computer company and only sign on with green and progressive companies, that wouldn't leave them with much of a distributor list.

Think of it this way, all of the increased sales Apple will gain from partnering with Wal Mart will go towards its funding of Democrats. And ultimately, Wal Mart will continue to make bundles of cash regardless of what Apple does. It's not Apple's responsibility to stop or change Wal Mart. That's up to individuals to stop shopping there.
