Because it's the president's bully pulpit, they're likely only to talk about things which youu've already heard quite a bit of info about before. I think the weekly address was something started before television as a way of keeping everyone up to speed on what was going on but with satellite communications/tv, it's a bit outdated, in my opinion.
I still think it should be around though.
