Question for those of you who have quit smoking cold turkey: how long does it take to get past the "I'm a huge asshole" phase of quitting?

7. Enjoying being single
and love it. I don't have to answer to anyone except myself and God.

Lonely? Not really. I have friends and groups to fill me time.

8. I was just about to add on to my post
that I met my husband when I was 19. Married him when I was barely 21. I'm 34 now. I love him to death (even though right now I could thump him on the head and not feel bad about it at all) but anyone who has been married since they were a fetus DOES have their moments of wistful imagining not answering to ANYONE.

3 days
And then for the next week you will be tempted

And the month following you will get small temptations, here and there.

Then, one year later, you will want to start smoking out of the blue.

Always, always keep gum on hand just in case.

5. Sigh.
This is about the millionth time he's attempted to quit. I hope it sticks this time. I told him to take it one day at a time. Don't let down his guard, because I know those temptations do hit out of the blue from time to time.

But he always acts like a huge ginormous JERK the first couple of weeks after he has quit.

10. Nicotine gum worked for me
But not everyone likes that "fresh from the ashtray" flavor. It will chill the assholiness though...

I've heard good things about St. Johns Wort - try it. It cant hurt...

9. I quit about 3 weeks ago
Lasted 5 days, then I ran across a leftover pack in my saddlebags.

I'm quitting again this week. Hopefully for good.

11. Been 4 months for me and I'm still in it.
But then, I've been in it since birth!

Has he got any patches or nicotine gum? They do help loads.

12. My room mate died in April last year
He found out he had lung cancer and was dead in three weeks. It was a HORRIBLE scary heartbreaking experience. I had to tell him there was nothing else the doctors could do even though just days before he had requested they do everything possible to keep him alive. I had to make the decision to take him up to the hospice and I had to call and beg the relatives to get there before he died. They didn't make it except for his sister who got there an hour before he died, when he was in a coma.
I had to decide to donate his tissues to science nd have him cremated because he had no insurance and no money. I had no idea what he wanted because he wouldn't talk about it.
Be as understanding as you can and thank him for quiting. Keep thanking him.
