So I found a dog (pictures)
Yesterday, it was pouring rain down here and slightly cold, at least for Miami standards. I was working on my computer when I saw a small dog run by my window. I didn't think anything of it until two hours later when I walked out of the house and the dog is laying beneath my car. It had stopped raining so I fed him some cooked chicken.
I tried to get him to warm up to me so I could put him in my yard, take a photo and post "found dog" posters throughout my neighborhood, but he wouldn't let me grab him. He ended up running down the street after eating my chicken.
So I forgot about him, but two hours later, he is under my car again. I tried grabbing him again, but again, he takes off running. So I leave the house, come back a couple of hours later and there he is again, hanging around my front yard. This time, I get him to go in the yard. He was scruffy and appeared to have been abused. He might have an injured rear leg because he sometimes lifts it when he walks. Other times he walks fine.
So now I have the dog, whom I named "Scruffy". I've since bathed him and hung up posters around the neighborhood to see if anybody has lost a dog.
But if nobody claims him, I guess I will keep him.
He looks like Benji and is probably just a mutt, but can anybody look at these pictures and tell me what kind of dog he might be?

4. That's okay -- It's still a cute dog
And we could probably use a little break from the heavy political discourse here in GDP.

Hi Scruffy! :hi:

11. You rock, opening your home to a wayward pup.
I've got a few of my rescue friends looking at the pix to try to decipher the breed(s). How big is he, and what does his tail do when he stands (curl up, hang down...)?

13. He's so darned CUTE
Bless your heart for sheltering this dear little soul.

I wish you both well.

He seems to be a terrier for the most part -- but that distinctive orange is interesting, along with the 'bat ears." I wonder if he has some pomeranian or papillon in him.

I bet he's very happy he found you.

Give him a big hug from me and Marigold.

18. packed with personality
you can see it in his eyes ... what a cool looking dog ...

might be a good idea to put up some posters at some of the vets in the area ... and i would definitely take the dog to the vet if no one shows up to claim him ... always good to start with a thorough check-up ...

congratulations on your find ...

19. Scruffy
He looks like a Papillon or Papillon-cross. If not, he is definitely Terrier cross, but I do think there may be Papillon in there.

He is awfully cute. Do take him to the vet and have him scanned for a microchip. If he has one, someone may be missing him. The vet will know how to contact the companies to report a lost, microchipped dog.

Good for you for taking him in.

Call the shelters and see if any dogs are reported missing as well as all the vets and the animal control (police) in your area. Signs are good, but not enough.

20. What a little cutie!
I love his devil-may-care haircut!

We had nearly the same experience a couple months ago...a dog came into our yard and wouldn't leave. We called the shelters, hung flyers and put ads in the paper. Many local papers will put them in for free. No one called and we kept the dog. We're so happy we did! She is a great dog and we love her to pieces already.

Sometimes fate just brings you together.:grouphug:
