14. "but" is an oxymoron in most cases....think about how we usually use it.

"but" most often implies exactly the opposite of a statement in conversation. i.e.

"nothing personal, but", <I'm going to say something personal>
"I really like x, but", <I don't like x>

etc., you get the drift.

I work at not using "but" in conversation, as hard as it is at times.
