as a pal is trying to envoke a momentary, serious moment.
Darn thing about the net - you can send the intent - but you can't shape how it might be recieved... :-)

and they were gone...
few songs can bring tingles to my spine everytime I hear them - or conjour up the song in my mind, as this one does.

8. I often do some work in a store that is stuck in the 60's |
|
musicly. The loop tape that they play often includes that song. I have to spend several hours there at a time and I hear it at least once every time I am there lately.
I heard it last week when I was there and I found myself tearing up right there in the store.
I love that song too.

7. that line - on this thread |
|
is the one that gave me physical chills... knew it would happen somewhere (the song always does) just didn't know where/when. Usually it takes until the verse with Martin.

10. Yeah, the verse with Martin was the one that got me the most. |
|
I always felt like the song was already written, and then Martin was tragically included.
A sad, tragic balance.

Anybody here seen my old friend Abraham? Can you tell me where he's gone? He freed lotta people but it seems the good they die young You know I just looked around and he's gone
Anybody here seen my old friend John? Can you tell me where he's gone? He freed lotta people but it seems the good they die young I just looked around and he's gone
Anybody here seen my old friend Martin? Can you tell me where he's gone? He freed lotta people but it seems the good they die young I just looked around and he's gone
Didn't you love the things that they stood for? Didn't they try to find some good for you and me? And we'll be free Some day soon, it's gonna be one day

12. I posted this a couple of weeks ago! |
|
Then I downloaded three versions: Marvin Gaye, Leonard Nimoy, and, of course, Dion.
I'm just corny enough to like all of them. :)

But he did manage to carry the tune and pull off triplets.
I downloaded it from Soul Seek. Go for it.
