My Mom, Dad, Both Grandmothers, And Both Grandfathers Have All Died
All I have left are one Aunt, my sister, neice, and about nine cousins.

I haven't had any children either, that I know of.

My bloodline on Dad's side of the family may die out.

1. If your sister has a child
your blood line won't die out. However, your fathers name will not be carried forward unless you have a child. Better get busy!

7. Nope -- If you are a guy you can have kids forever
Edited on Sun Jan-30-05 01:27 AM by Sydnie
Look at people like Tony Randall. He had his last kid when he was around 80 or something like that. And if you are a woman, look at recent history -- woman had a baby at 67! It's physically possible.

Sorry that you find yourself in this position. I too have no living parents or grandparents and neither do my children -- from either side. It's quite sad for them as well.

Sending you a hug! :grouphug:

edited to add -- I was born when my dad was 48! It can happen for you too!

and I'm here telling you about it, so if it could happen in 1916...

16. It's not too late. I was 59 last September when my first son was born.
Then again, I'm assuming you're male.

uncles are all dead. I have a brother and he has two kids and we have 12 cousins. I have no kids purposely.

We are now the generation that will "go" next. It used to bother me but not anymore. It's "life" and that's the way the cookie crumbles and it happens to everyone. I think what's important is to leave the world a better place rather than to keep bloodlines going.

10. I'm an only child, so it's just my parents and me
I was thinking this very thing over the holidays - if I don't have a child, our family will die out eventually. My dad is an only child too, and my only aunt (on my mom's side) is severely developmentally disabled, so I have no cousins either. I come from a weird little tiny family.

13. My husband is the only son of the only son of the only son.
And he had a daughter.

Also, our last name is very rare in the US, only about 400 of us. It's German.

Fortunately he's not too hung up on names or having a son and such. He loves having one child and loves having a daughter, so it's all good.

My daughter (10) told us that IF she gets married (LOL) she's keeping her name AND any boys she has will have her last name. I asked her "what about your husband?" and she said "He can give his last name to any daughter."

Smart girl.

I'm sorry about your family situation. I have loads of family, but am not in touch with a single one of them for various reasons. And my husband's parents are freepers and live 1100 miles away.

It's not too late to have a child, though, if that's what you want.

14. Hey about your daughter
See if she is interested in including her father's last name in to her children. My dad's mom's family name is already effectively died out, she only had one brother and he was a Catholic Priest. I plan to give the name Keown in some form to one of my kids.

15. That's what she said.
Any boys she has are getting her last name, which would be her father's.

17. It's just me, my brother and my father who is
85 years old. Neither me or my brother have any kids, my mother is gone, no aunts left, no uncles left just some cousins that we don't see anymore. It bothers me if I think about it but I try not to dwell on it.
