My Canadian friend was denied entry into America last night. |
|
He was taking a bus through Ontario, and when he got to customs in Detroit, they denied him and would not explain why. Thus, he gets sent to Windsor and has to find a way home (and thankfully he is home now). This all sucks because he was planning to come to Chicago and spend about 3 weeks here.
Lost in all of this is the question of why. I can't quite think of a good excuse to disallow a harmless Canadian citizen entry into our country. I can think of lots of terrible excuses, but I still like to think our country still has a shred of dignity and sense left in it.
Oh, and you can just imagine how rosy his opinion of America is now.

to be able to return to a place the word "freedom" still has meaning. He should wipe the dust of this place from his shoes and count his blessings.

Born in Iran, raised in London. He travels twice a year to London on a one way cash ticket with no checked baggage, just to be a shit. And travels with complete impunity. Go freakin' figure. Must be his charm. On second thought, no on the charm. Bet THAT won't last much longer.

7. I think you can be denied entry to one country if... |
|
...you have a police record in the other. Not totally positive if it works both ways - maybe Canadian DUers can elucidate. Doesn't seem to be the issue here, though...

they (US Border Patrol)didn't believe that the prescription that I was carrying matched the medication I was carrying (and require). They weren't willing to look in the CPS either.
edited for clarity.
