You wanna know what's really fucked up???
In my state, It's illegal for two gay people to get married, it's legal for two straight people to get married, it's legal for two gay people to live together, and it's illegal for two straight people to live together.

It doesn't get more fucked-up than that. Once you get that fucked-up, it's over, game over. That's it, it's the end.

Actually, that shit law says it's against the law for a man and a woman. So it doesn't matter if they're gay, I guess.

9. How is it illegal for two straight people to live together?
I don't get it...how can the government tell me who I can live with? What about opposite sex roommates, or a brother and sister sharing the same house?

It exists in my state. Seriously.

It's a 100-something year-old law.

12. Yes, a man and a woman must be married if they want to live together.

Here's a link to a couple of LTTE's into my paper today regarding it. The law was supposed to be repealed, but unfortunately, a majority of our state legislators are dickholes. People obviously want the law to be repealed.

13. here's a few more absurd laws
that i found on this website:
http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:6z3nFVU-H4gJ:monster-island.org/tinashumor/humor/laws.html+%22outdated+laws%22+funny&hl=en

(just do a google search for outdated laws & funny or whatever)

nebraska:
"In Crawford, heavy women who happen to be single, widowed, or divorced are banned from parachuting on Sunday.

nevada:
"In Nevada, it's illegal to drive a camel.

michigan:
"In Rochester, all bathing suits must have been inspected by the head of police.
"In Michigan, a woman isn't allowed to cut her own hair without her husband's permission.

massachusetts:
"It is illegal to take more than 2 baths a month within Boston confines.

illinois:
"It is against the law for a monster to enter the corporate limits of Urbana, Illinois.
"Cicero, Illinois, prohibits humming on public streets on Sundays.
"Kirkland, Illinois, law forbids bees to fly over the village or through any of its streets.

i heard that states just can't be bothered taking them off the books when they are so absurd/obscure because it's too expensive

19. Why would it be expensive?
It's not like there's going to be serious debate about it. If a law has become grossly obsolete to the point of being laughable, it should be abolished. Law is complicated enough without having dozens of totally illegitimate things taking up space.

21. It's true. A buddy of mine used to live in South...
His apartment got broken into, and he called the police. When an officer came out to get write the report, he asked if there was anybody else that lived in the apartment, when the girlfriend, said "yes, I do too," the cop gave them a blank stare, paused, then asked if they were married. When they said no, he said that he wasn't going to include her in the report, since cohabitation is illegal and they could get in trouble for it.

20. They don't enforce it.
But the problem is that it's still on the books, and it's a blatantly stated law who's only written purpose back in the 1800's was to enforce Puritanical law on the citizens.

One of the legislators in Bismarck suggested that all these dickhole legislators put their money where their mouths are. He suggested that if they vote not to repeal the law, that they instead vote on actually enforcing the law, so that they'll round up thousands of people in their homes and arrest them, and then they'll see how stupid the law is after the public outcry.

Good idea, I think.

18. Someone once told me a long time ago that in Pennsylvania
if a woman standing outdoors sees a man in a window undressing, the man can be arrested for exhibitionism, but if a man standing outdoors sees a woman in a window undressing, he could be arrested for voyeurism. In both cases, the woman is not breaking the law.

22. In Jackson, MS and of all places New Orleans
3 or more unrelated females cannot live in the same house.

Its meant to prevent a whorehouse from forming.

It also means that there are no soriety houses at Tulane or Jackson St.
