A happy ending to a potentially irksome situation
Yesterday I went to the gym and swam, and since I was going to be running errands for the rest of the day, I put my gear into the trunk and drove around town.

Unfortunately, when it came time to put the last load of purchases in the trunk, it wouldn't open. :-( I tried everything, and nearly broke the key. The trunk was just plain stuck.

It was late when I got home, and I didn't like the idea of my wet swimsuit sitting outside all night, but I knew it wouldn't mildew in 20 degree weather, so I decided to wait on calling a locksmith until Sunday afternoon.

So I'm driving home from church, thinking about calling the locksmith, when all of a sudden, someone rams me from behind at a traffic light. (He said he'd been watching the side of the street to figure out if a certain empty building was the site of a restaurant that he used to frequent.) Anyway, neither of our very elderly cars looks any worse than it did before, so we exchange information and drive off.

Upon getting home, I thought, "Maybe, just maybe..." So I tried the trunk, and sure enough, it popped right open! :-)

Thank you, sir, for running into me at that traffic light and saving me some money. :-)

1. LOL... You have found the antithesis to Murphy's Law!
I'm glad the damage was slight.

5. a little warm water might have done the trick
if it was frozen shut. My car did that to me the last time I visited Wisconsin.
But make sure you send him a check for the -$30 in damages he did to your car. It's only fair.

6. Actually, it was too warm for the lock to freeze
I think something was stuck in the latch and the crash jarred it loose. :-)
