15. Hydrocodone is a step up.

I mean, they're both narcotics. Hydrocodone is just a step above codeine -- and a step below morphine, two steps below heroin. Any of those will ease the cough somewhat, alleviate the pain, and help you sleep. Sweet, sweet sleep.

11. When my boys were young...

... they brought home every cold and flu at school, and I got them all.

My doc used to give me some syrup called Tussionex (or close) that was a polymerized (time release) hydrocodone or codeine.

It was good stuff, I remember about the 3rd time he prescribed it he said "this is the most abused drug in America".

He was a subtle one that doc, that was his way of saying "don't expect any more of this stuff" :)

I can imagine. I had some codeine syrup about 6 years ago when I had an absolutely unbearable sore throat. It was the ONLY thing that gave me any relief at all and let me get a few hours sleep. It was amazing stuff.

Because I was coughing so hard the risk outweighed the possible danger to me and the baby. That is great stuff. Hope you feel better soon :hug:
