I say Ray last night at the local dollar theater in my mother's hometown. Jamie Foxx became Ray Charles in that movie and he was absolutely amazing!

As for best actress, I think Hilary Swank has this one sewn up in the bag. The girl knows how to play hillbilly white trash and she shines as one in this movie. If she wins this Oscar it'll solidify that her win for "Boys Don't Cry" wasn't a fluke.

1. I Agree On Jamie Foxx - He Did Become Ray Charles
I don't think I have ever seen any actor personify a legend as well.

I'll withhold comment on Swank since I have not seen all the ladies. I will say that Million Dollar Baby was a good movie, though not great.

I have a hard time watching Clint Eastwood without thinking about Dirty Hairy and "make my day." He just seems incapable of showing more than a few emotions.

Now Morgan Freeman, on the other hand, is an incomparable actor of the highest order.

2. I haven't seen Million Dollar Baby
but Boys Don't Cry was just unbelievable. All I could do was shake after seeing it. She was just amazing. The story was just so sad and she brought it to life so well. Regardless of this year it was no fluke.

3. Don't get me wrong, Hilary was great in "Boys Don't Cry" but...
....some would say the same thing of Helen Hunt when she did "As Good As it Gets". A little known TV actress gets the role of a lifetime and pulls off an Oscar. Where is Helen Hunt today? Personally, I had not seen Hilary Swank in anything that memorable since her Oscar except HBO's "Iron Jaw Angels". This Oscar hopefully will establish Ms. Swank as one of the heavy-weights in Hollywood.

BTW, it'll be interesting to see if Charlize Theron can put out anything interesting after her role in Monster.
