So I got high for the first time last night...

...and I have to say, my first response after my mind cleared was:
"WHY THE FUCK IS THIS ILLEGAL?"
I freakin' LOVED that stuff- it calmed me down to the point where I was relaxed and my mind was slow; something that I desperately needed. I overthink and my mind is hyperactive, and to experience 4 hours of just being....slow...was absolutly awesome.
I prefered this feeling overwhelmingly to drinking.
Damn. Just DAMN. It was GREAT.

11. That slowness is exactly why I never liked it.

I used to smoke the stuff on occasion socially many years ago. One night it occurred to me that I did not have to indulge in something I got no pleasure from, and in fact disliked, in order to be social.

I sometimes thought something was wrong with me because I didn't like it. I don't like feeling plodding, thick, and lethargic.

I stopped. Ever since then I haven't liked it any time I've tried. So I haven't in years and years.

Then again, I dont drink much either (maybe every 6-8 months I'll have a few beers with friends) & I used to do that alot too.

The Pharmaceuticals aren't going to allow it to be legal because they stand too much to lose. Marijuana has so many therapeutic benefits that it would make many drugs obsolete. (Not to mention the fact that it's cheaper.)

Also, my favorite thing is...NO hangover for me...beats the hell outta getting drunk in my book!

sounds like you have the same problem as me - hypo brain, I've been an insomniac for most of my life because despite how tired I am my brain starts thinking of three thousand things and I can't sleep (put it this way even after a shitload of pot I could still talk under 6 feet of water)

unfortunately because of this pot can be very attractive and while it's not going to make you a raving drooling mental case, it's not harmless.

like any drug you pretty quickly build up a tolerance and large amounts of THC can precipitate mental problems (most likely when that predisposition was already there but the jury's still out) it really saps your motivation and you end up spending a fortune.

this year after more than 10 years of heavy smoking I decided to quit - I had insane nightmares for 6 weeks where'd I'd wake up sweating and THAT scared I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat because I totally lost my appetite and I felt achy, after 6 months or so I started again but at a MUCH reduced quantity.

anyway the point of the pain in the bum motherly drug rant was to say careful you don't end up smoking enormous amounts to shut your head up!

I was fifteen the first time I smoked pot, nearly 35 years ago. I've been an on and off stoner ever since-- mostly off for the last couple of years, but that's one of the nice things about the herb, you can pick it up when you want, and put it down when that seems to make sense for you.
