If you had a time machine . . . |
|
. . . and could go back in time and make some changes in your life "back then" . . .
What would you do?
Knowing what I know now, I would definitely make myself rich, as in buying Microsoft stock and stuff like that. Other than that, I would probably have stayed in college at a younger age and got my degrees earlier in life.
Other than that, I don't have a lot of regrets, other than relationship and marriage decisions.
You?

sure there's been a ton of disappointments, but those disapointments mmore than anything made me who i am today. As a Christian, I know that God has a plan for me and that plan includes bumpsa along the way, but they're only bumps and were put there on purpose.

9. I'm asking because I'm 30 years old |
|
and after a couple of aborted attempts at college in my 20's I'm in a somewhat aimless place right now.
I lost the very comfortable job I held throughout my 20's about a year and a half ago and am now faced with the task of approaching education in my 30's
I have immense self-doubt about the whole prospect and utterly no idea what I should pursue. I'm completely vacant when it comes to occupational interests.
I've been "subsistence" living for the better part of a year, and I fear that I won't be able to upshift into the higher gear that college would require.
Any advice you might be able to share?

10. I was a professional musician until about age 31 |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 02:19 AM by Floogeldy
When I quit the music business, I was in poor health. I went on a natural foods diet and started exercising. I gave guitar lessons and finished up my undergrad (which I had started after high school).
I studied my ass off (which I had never done before) and was scared shitless when I took my first test. But I made an "A." Whew! What a relief! I was afraid I didn't have what it took. That was a needless worry.
I fell in love with history, particulary American Colonial. I decided to go to law school. It was easy for me because I had a house to live in with bills paid. Tuition was paid for with student loans. My good health got me through law school.
If you are worrying about going back to college in your thirties, don't. You've got a lot of experience behind you that will really help. You will do fine BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO STUDY YOUR ASS OFF.
I was in law school with some people in their fifties and sixties.

I'd sometimes like to redo the period of my life from 1975 to 1985. I'd have skipped going to the most freepingest bible college in the USA for a start.
