I am completely, unalterably opposed to the death penalty. It's morally repugnant and it most certainly does NOT deter crime, plus it's unfairly meted out disproportionally in favor of minorities, not to mention the horrific possibility of executing an innoncent person.

But, if we MUST insist on having it, then not only should executions be televised, then it should be MANDATORY for people to watch them. How the fuck is it supposed to be a "deterrent against crime" if executions are basically carried out in secret? Goddammit, if these blood thirsty cheerleaders of the death penalty want it so goddamned much, then they should be forced to watch them. Pure and simple.

42% of the death row population is black. The black population at large is no where near that-I think it's closer to 12%-which would make the impositon of the death penalty unfair, if not its application.

Also, the White Defendant/Black Victim (12) Black Defendant/White Victim (192) numbers (actual executions) are quite telling.
