ok, this is weird
I dropped off my car Saturday at the Honda dealer for my 5,000 service, i picked it up and didn't drive until today, when i turned on the radio my pre-sets were all changed on both am and fm, the am was changed to all rightwing talk and 2 religeous talk channels and fm was changed to 2 christian music stations and 3 country stations. No one has been in my car except for me and when i picked it on Saturday afternoon i istened to cd's.

15. Totally agree!
If it is just a rogue mechanic, get him canned. If it's the dealership get them on Honda's shit list.

who had a "darwin" fish on her car. She got some of those "Chick" publications stuck in her seat also. I asked if she complained, and she said no. I would have.

24. OK i called
I was very polite, didn't go crazy. I told my service rep what was on my radio before and what's on there now, she said that was no acceptable, that it must have been done on purpose. I told her i didn't want to see anyone get fired but just talked to about this kind of behavior, she understood but she said that the matter needs to be dealt with-"If you put liberal talk on the mechanics radio i'm sure he's be howling mad and be calling for your head" so i said "Ok, thank you for looking into it" and she told me "Your next oil change is on Honda"

10. An idiot serviced your car, clearly
Put duct tape, the Tom Ridge Protective Shield, over the radio next time, if you have to go there. I'd find another place, and complain like hell to the outlet, to their boss's, and their boss's boss, too.

Not that it will do any good. These crazy fools just don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves.

My guess is that their excuse will be that they had to disconnect the battery to perform some function, and lost your settings, so the guy who reprogrammed the radio just plugged in some "random" stations. In fact, I'd count on that being the excuse...

12. they have no right to do something like that- I would be furious
I would complain to them and find another dealer.
If someone wanted to listen to a station while they were working, thats one thing, but they should have given it back to you with nothing changed from the way you left it.

16. Before you complain check one thing. As part of the process of the
5000 mile service they may have had to disconnect the battery, depending on what was serviced, and in doing so the radio upon reconnect of the battery would reset to defaults. Defaults vary, at least among the stereos I've owned and some of them will have three or four stations the same but other buttons will be different frequencies.

Are the offending stations in the lower FM numbers? Like 89.6 or 89.7? Just check to make sure this isn't the answer. I'd hate to see someone lose their job (potentially) in this bush*ian economy for something they didn't do.

20. When they disconnect the battery
the presets are cleared, not reset. By default they will not be set, pushing them will only display the lowest frequency, they won't all be set to different stations.

26. When the presets are "cleared" the presets will go back to whatever
factory settings they had. If these factory settings are the stations that are on chimprs radio NOW, then it would be wrong to complain. And I've never had a stereo that reset to ALL the same stations, like I said some are the same but not all. I had one car where the wire that would maintain the memory for the presets broke and it would reset(or clear presets if you prefer) everytime the ignition was turned off. It would reset to Button 1 - 87.9, Button 2 - 87.9, Button 3 - 87.9, Button 4 - 95.5, Button 5 - 106.3

The first three were static, but the last 2 were stations, 1 country, 1 rock.

It sounds like the switches were deliberate, but a simple test can be done. Just jot down the preset number and the matching station currently on it. then set it to the prior configuration chimpr enjoyed before taking it to the dealer, then disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and then reconnect it and check the stations. If they are completely different than the offending stations then the mechanic or whoever set them, if they come up as the offending stations then it is no ones fault and no malice was done.

If they messed with them then by all means raise a stink, but doing a 10 minute test could save everyone a lot of trouble.

That's BS... some fundy nutbar working for the dealership did that. I'd tell them I won't bring it back if their policy is to allow their employees to unnecessarily change your settings.

19. I would call the dealership and complain -- loudly!
The mechanics are just supposed to work on your car, not play around with your radio and impose their listening habits on you. If you get no satisfaction from the dealership, I would call Honda customer service directly.

23. I would call management
Then tell them that you will be bringing your car back to have the radio programmed the way it was when you brought it in. If they ask you what stations you originally had..I would tell them, "That's up to the mechanic to figure out".

28. Call, but don't complain about RW stations being put in.
Complain about the stations being reset, period. If you complain about them being changed from LW to RW stations, it will be seen as a "wacky liberal" thing. Try not keep politics out of it.

This is a property issue. Make it clear this service person clearly and deliberately violated your property. Even had the battery been disconnect, that would only have cleared the presets. Someone, deliberately, took effort and time to change them to his/her preferences, annd that is likely time that wound up on your bill.

Yes, it's probably just a twerp service guy getting a giggle. But it is unprofessional behavior which reflects on the shop. Make it clear you understand that reflection and will take your business elsewhere if this shop allows such to occur.
