Who wants to be on "Trading Spouses?"
Got this on an email list I'm on:

My name is Cat Wegner.
I work as a casting director at "Trading Spouses" for Fox Television and Rocket science laboratories.

I am trying to find interesting families who are advocates for women's
rights or women who are working in feminist organizations. Trading
Spouses is a family-themed reality show that airs on Fox, Monday nights at 8PM. The purpose of our show is to compare and contrast various families across the country while highlighting their unique interests and cultures! For example, we've had everyone from hunters to vegans, alligator wranglers to family bands, tattoo artists to political activists appear on our show. Currently, we are casting for new episodes and would love to meet more interesting families who could show the world a little bit about what makes them so special!

This is a terrific opportunity for any family who is energetic and who wants to learn about another way of life. In addition, every family who has appeared on the show has been compensated $50,000!

All families who want to be on our show must have at least one child
between the ages of 5 & 18 and must be legally married. Please have a
look on our website: www.fox.com or http://www.tradingspousescasting.com
<http://www.tradingspousescasting.com/> for more details.

2. Actually there goal is to discredit the "women's movement" by finding
the looniest women's rights "advocate" and pairing them up with the most "down-to-earth", "likeable" nazi neo-con imagineable.

Notice nazi and neo-con are NOT in quotes.

3. I'm not a wife, but I love these shows.

"Wife-swap is the other one.

It's cool, the last three shows I have seen, one of the couples have been inter-racial.

And on the last two shows, the wife in the liberal couple on one was an utter clean freak from hell, as well as a peacenick, and then on the next one the liberal wife was a very-laid back non-cleaner. Reality tv like this never fails to accidently expose way more diversity than mainstream scripted tv ever allowed to filter through.

Plus the shows really have a positive message about just how much the woman in the family does.

I think they may have bad intent, but that doesn't matter because this is reality and it has clearly backfired. You can edit all you want, but ignorance always shines through.

How about "Families that f*cking HATE Fox?"
Interesting message, though. It does answer the question I've always had when I see promos for stupid reality programming like that, to wit: "why would ANYONE expose their horrible innermost lives to the public like that?"

the answer being, of course, 50 grand.

Hell, for that kinda change in a relatively short amount of time, I could get my family to camp things up for the camera and look dysfunctional as all git-out.

You don't suppose none-a-that happens real often, do ya?

4. Must be legally married?
I guess that leaves out any gay couples. And that would be the one episode I'd LOVE to see - Miss Jane Straight Republican wife goes to Vermont to spend a week with a lesbian mom and 2 kids.

7. Yeah, if you don't care
that someone else gets to tell you how to spend your ill-gotten gain. The other "mommy" gets to dictate how the $50K is spent.

In the meantime, we have no kids, so that lets us out.

Julie

p.s. There is no amount of money on the face of the planet that could induce me to submit to FAUX's selective editing...
