Hmm....Itunes weirdness.... |
|
So I have Itunes set up to keep my folder/files organized. I have about 20,000 songs on a hard drive. Pretty much my entire cd collection.
Itunes lists and plays all the bands by Artist: Album: Song. Everything is organized that way. And if I open up the music folder in the hard drive it lists folders for every band, then sub folders for every album, and within those albums mp3's for each song.
Now I noticed the other day that I have a folder called "compilations" that I never created. In it are about 20 different albums by different artists. I thought this was weird but some odd quirk from when I was importing them. So I moved the files to their proper artist folder, then went back to Itunes and re-imported them into my library from their new locations.
Then when I went back into the folder later, they had all been put back into the "compilations" folder and deleted from the artist folder I had put them in.
So just for kicks I then tried to completely re-import one of the albums from cd. Sure enough, it placed it in the compilations folder even though I tagged it before importing with the proper Artist/Album/Songs configurations.
Anyone know why this might be happening?

1. For some reason iTunes will read the CDDB info of an album as a |

compilation - I have no idea why but his same thing happened to me. I just stay on top of it and make sure it doesn't happen. In the end iTunes can find what your looking for no matter where it is

Its the software automatically cataloging and storing your songs so it knows all the info about it and where to store it.
on the "get info" of a song, there is a check box called part of a compilation. you can uncheck that and it will put the cds in the standered artists/album folders i believe

Excellent. I know I'm being overly anal retentive, but I like my stuff organized.

A library just popped up in my menu named "Jacob's Limewire Tunes".
I can't delete it.
What gives?

if you are, you have to go into limewire, and go to options or properties and make sure you turn off "sharing your music"
if you aren't, someone around you has their folder set to share music, you are free to browse their collection and listen to their tunes
