'seance' - 'channeling' the dead kind of thing in a couple of weeks. Anyone here done that? And, NO - I am NOT going to see "White Noise" beforehand!!!!! I am skeptical, but also hopeful at the same time that I can make contact with loved ones.

The Electronic Voice Phenomenon thing (featured in White Noise) is the most interesting phenomenon pertaining to survival of death, but I'm pretty sure it will end up being well-explained and not as something mystical.

I tried several of these "modalities" some years ago -- stuff like table tipping, Ouija boards, and I even built a diode-based EVP device. Nothing happened that couldn't be better explained by the ordinary.

In spite of my disappointment and skepticism, I still urge people with an interest to study the paranormal, and to subject it to the most rigorous scrutiny they can. There might yet be a few interesting things that go bump in the night left to be discovered!

Good luck. Just don't be too bummed out if nothing Earth-shaking happens.

Yeah - that's what I'm aware of. This is a 'one-time' thing for me.
I'm skeptical and curious at the same time. One of my friends is going with me - she hasn't had anyone close to her pass away yet (lucky person) and she's wondering who/if anyone (??) would show up for her. We're going with other friends out to dinner first and then on to the 'channeling'.

And no, not everyone can do this. While I do not believe in the "powers" these people claim to have, I have done it and had a great time. I did the same thing you seem to have planned. Me and a group of friends had dinner together and then went to the psychic. She did a group reading and a seance. I think it was $20 a head. We were there for about 2 hours and had loads of fun.

I got nothing out of it spiritually, and I know she was not in contact with my dad as she claimed, but we had fun.
