Would you eat pickle relish that has been open for several months |
|
My rule is usually to toss stuff- if in doubt throw it out. But I have everything else I need for dinner. Hubby is from NY and I found Sabrett's hot dogs and red onions at the grocery store last night. Do I make hubby stop for pickle relish even though I am the only one that uses it or am I safe eating the stuff in my fridge?? TIA for your help

If there's no sign of mold, and if there's no funky smell I think you'll be OK :)

I wouldn't eat it if the date is expired.

I've eaten ancient jalapenos with no ill effects.
If anyone has any clue how to do the tilde over the n I'd appreciate a hint. :)

That's the 'sell by' date. It should be good for a few days past that. I usually go by smell.
If it doesn't kill me... :)

10. Yes milk is usually good for up to 7 days |

after the sell by date. If it smells ok, it should be fine.

6. Acid from vinegar, and sugar content |
|
should keep it from spoiling, unless it was previously "cross-contaminated" with meat juice from a utensil, then I don't know. Refrigerated, it'd probably be okay.
