I think it's gone downhill since then. Not the fault of the cast or anything, it's just kind of played out. If they cancelled it now it'd be one of those big cult TV series.

...even in the less-outrageous second season. The writing isn't always great, but the acting is superb. What a terrific cast!
The presidential motorcade episode (just rerun this week) is fantastic, and is the equal of anything shown in the first season.
