Don't ask, although I imagine somebody will. He had
put on considerable bulk lately, but I thought it
was simply winter fur, which he gets to such an extent
that it is hard to tell what direction he is going in,
backward or forward or sideways. However he about doubled his
weight to 80 or 90 pounds, so me and my sister had to
bribe him with a sack of cured lutefisk blintzes
to go to the vet and had a sonargram taken
and discovered the perplexing truth. He usually remains
quite suave in the most harrowing of unexpected circumstances,
but under the sonargram he apparently believed we meant him
or what is inside him harm and he freaked and began to spin,
so we were able only to confirm the presence of an unknown
number of some kind of unknown offspring. Beyond that, at this
point, no one can say. Back from the vet, he's resting in
the corner, although standing, and watching me with eyes
that seem to say, Things are going to be changing around here
in a big way very soon, Fellow.

He is making a nest in the fur on his own back.
Anything smaller than a biscuit is disappearing into
the nest. The vet is bringing in specialists from Europe
and Asia to consult on the unsettling occurrence. Apparently
this animal has more plumbing than the DWP. It is nauseating
and thrilling, as is most things Oscar.
