I just got a WEIRD telephone poll!
I got a poll about the Clear Skies initiative, and when it was done I asked the guy for his company name (I do that routinely with all polling/telemarketing calls). The guy first said, "I don't have that information," then sounded flustered and said, "I'm with the, uh, the Parker Brothers, a polling organization based in Birmingham Alabama." I hung up and was about to pick up the phone to get the number he'd called from, and I heard him still on the line--he said, as if to someone else, "...where my paycheck comes from."

When I asked, "What?" he quickly said, "Thank you ma'am, goodbye," as if he was in a hurry to get me off the line.

The originating number was 1-877-705-6331. I tried a reverse directory lookup but there's no data, and nobody answered when I tried calling it.

Spooky, yes?

2. Not quite a push-poll
There were a lot of questions about whether I liked Jon Stewart, then a bunch of statements about the Clear Skies Initiative that I had to say whether they made me like it more or dislike it more.

Like, "If I were to tell you, 'This bill breaks the sacred covenant between God and man to steward our planet carefully,' would it make you Much more doubtful about the Clear Skies Initiative's effectiveness, Somewhat more doubtful about it, or Not at all more doubtful about it."

Maybe it was Indrid Cold again. :scared:
