Has anyone ever seen "The Brothers McMullen"?
On one hand, it kind of strikes me as the kind of sappy yuppie drama that I don't normally have any interest in. But I recently found out that it was made for a budget of $25,000, and I'm now tempted to go out and rent this movie just for that reason alone. My question is, has anyone else seen it? And if so, did you like it?

2. It's a bit uneven
If you are of Irish ancestry you will find more to like about it, as some events will resonate. It was filmed in Long Island, so if that is your 'hood, then that will add to the enjoyment.

What is interesting is that most of the parts were filled by non-actors, who got their start with that film. Sometimes this shows a bit, but, it also adds a certain immediacy that you miss in the big budget type films.

I dunno if I'd go OUT and rent it. If you have cable, check to see if it isn't playing...I usually see it every few months in the listings. You may even be able to check it out of the library for free...!

3. Not a bad little movie...

Very impressive when you think about how it was made. Edward Burns made this for very little money and with a skeleton crew; he also wrote the script.

If you are curious, you should rent this movie.

4. Very Entertaining
Guy I saw it with at the time (10 yrs ago) could identify with Ed Burn's character as he laughed more during this movie.

Also, Sarah McLaughlin's "I Will Remember You" is the theme song.

5. Kick for the morning crowd
Thanks to those who've already responded. I like most of the low-budget indie flicks that do a lot (and make a lot) with a little, like El Mariachi, Slacker, or Clerks.
