Today's Public Service Reminder: Perfume and Work - a deadly combination |
|
well, at least for my allegeries when I'm stuck in an elevator with some woman who bathed in the damn stuff!!
I just don't get it! Unless you're in the Escort Business or work at a Perfume counter, there is absolutely no reason why anyone should be wearing perfume (or cologne - you men are guilty too!) to work! The scents are too much and irritate the hell of of those who are stuck near you!
That is all!

3. Perfume and cologne are okay at work... |
|
but only to a certain extent. I mean, one spray, I can deal with that. But the whole bath thing, no thanks! There's a woman I work with that you can smell a mile away. And the other one wears patchouli (which is okay if you like the stuff). Actually, I should say the patchouli wears her. Whew.

4. That's the reason why there should be absolutely none |
|
because those 2 people you mention who wear too much - they probably think they're only using just a bit of it. In fact, most folks who have really offensive odors (ie - perfume, body odor) can't smell it themselves. Unfortunately some folks think if they can't smell their perfume then no one else can. So they keep liberally reapplying until they smell it.

perfume and b.o. I'd rather smell the perfume. However, bathing in it isn't the best idea. That IS offensive to the sinuses.

5. I HATE PERFUME!!! It just kills my sinuses. |
|
Had a job once sitting near a woman like that... I asked her repeatedly to not wear so much perfume to work, she would lie and say she put on "less" or forgot, I finally asked her to wear none, and she refused. I ended up quitting that job a few months later, with her being one of the biggest reasons.

6. I'm fortunately that I'm mostly around men where I sit |
|
But if any of them wore too much and refused to do anything about it, I would go straight to management. I've been sneezing and dripping for the past 20 minutes since that encounter on the elevator.

15. I use to wear perfune everyday |
|
I worked at a job for about two years and one day another co-worker was standing next to me and said "gee you smell nice". I think that is a nice way to wear perfume, it takes two years for your co-workers to realize you wear any.

Scents are supposed to be used lightly. Some people have never learned that. They also must not realize that there use of scents can be detrimental others respiratory health, or maybe don't care

11. I understand being inundated with those smells |
|
but where I work people wear just a soft touch of a scent in their hand lotion or perfume. So everyone once in awhile someone will walk by and a soft pretty scent will linger for a moment. It is so nice. Isn't it odd how something that could be sweet can become so ugly when it is overdosed?

People who have severe allergies to perfumes etc. are not just complainers. It affects our health. I get instant migraines from it and respiratory problems and dizziness.
I just have to deal with it around and about but in the workplace a person has no choice and folks should take that into consideration.
