Oh, and I like tobacco. Guess that probably counts, too.

14. All of them, except #3 and #4. |
|
1.) Drive a pickup truck with with a nice powerful V8.
2.) Yes, I do. Every week.
5.) I love good red meat...tender is nice. I'll eat duck, squab, deer, goat, dog, you name it.
6.) Dirty jokes are KEWL!
7.) I ogle women. If they dress in a way that catches my attention, they WANT TO BE OGLED, fer Christ's sake! I do not do catcalls or whatever. I do look. It's healthy.
8.) I own guns and I have shot things. I don't do it just for fun, but I will shoot things when I have to.
PLUS...
1.) Big NASCAR fan. Grease monkey. Hot rodder.
2.) I do not believe in reparations for past injustices. I do believe in present equality.
3.) I think men and women, while they ought to be treated equally, are different.
4.) I will open doors for a woman, help her into and out of the car, etc. To me that is courtesy, not oppression.
5.) I am sick of the "victim" mentality. Life is not a "look what they did to me" thing. It's a "look what I am doing for (or to) myself" thing.
6.) I still think "conservative" means "to conserve." Whether that be land, trees, or money.
There's lots more, but that's enough.

None of the others, though - except I like destroying other Civs in Civ 3 (shooting?).

I drive a minivan. Added to overpopulation (but I have only one sibling who'll never have children, so it kind of makes up for it). Wear makeup, shave my legs, etc. Sometimes I use paper towels.

23. 1) PETA's a band of twits and 2) domestic partner benefits a mistake |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 12:00 PM by MrModerate
However,
1) While I don't believe animals have rights, I do believe that human beings have responsiblilities to animals. I end up agreeing with much of what PETA says, while being convinced their the worst possible advocates for their cause because they're trashy nitwits.
2) I'm mostly opposed to domestic partner benefits. However, I fully support gay marriage.
My reasoning is this: Employer benefits for family members are a reasonable societal response to the need for people to live dignified, productive lives. However, to keep a lid on costs, the providers of these benefits probably need to be able to define the benficiaries.
For me, marriage -- with its legal commitments, traditional fusing of interests and assets, and intention to permanence (not to mention minor dependents if you've got 'em)-- is a suitable way to define "family," where cohabitation generally is not. Make the commitment, stand up in front of the community and say "I dedicate my life to this person as my partner" and you qualify. Saying to someone "I'll be your partner for now" and you don't.
Now I realize that life is EXTREMELY untidy, and marriage may be a hard standard to meet for a whole host of good reasons. But while not proposing a pullback from domestic partner benefits, I'd like to strengthen marriage by encouraging the community to invest in it this way.
Of course, then you don't get to keep those medieval notions of who gets to or doesn't get to marry: The criterion is a pair of competent adults.
Now remember: this thread is about the ways respondants are not PC. These are my two. (There are probably more, if I look hard enough)
