1. It's a Krazy Kat throwing a brick
though it looks more like a Krazy Mouse.

3. It's from a classic comic strip
Believe it or not it's an act of love. Ignatz the mouse loved Krazy Kat and expressed said feeling by lobbing bricks at his head. Hey, you try to explain Britney or Fear Factor to somebody from back then...

5. Interestingly, Krazy Kat was often referred to as "she"
What a great absurdist strip. One of my faves.

6. Yes, there's always been speculation about Krazy's gender ...
... and, to some extent, Ignatz's. Offisa Pupp, Ignatz's nemesis, is clearly male, though.

8. Krazy Kats the one
in love with Ignatz, I think. He/She(Krazy is refered to as a "he" by the other characters) interprets every thing her "lil angel" does as a sign that he loves her. It is a fantastic old comic. You can see a bit of its infulence in the strip "Mutts"

4. This is Ignatz Mouse throwing a brick at Krazy Kat ...
Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 09:53 AM by non sociopath skin
... as he did in just about every one of George Herriman's amazing, surrealistic comic strip. Krazy loved Ignatz and took the bricks as love tokens.

7. I loved Krazy Kat and Ignatz cartoons!
Matter o' fact, as a kid, my next door neighbor had a crush on me and once bopped me with a baseball. After that he was lovingly referred to as that "Bastard Ignatz".

13. Best Comic EVER
Krazy was gender neutral.
The Krazy Kat love triangle
Krazy loved Ignatz and thought the bricks were an expression of love
Ignatz hated Krazy and threw bricks
Offisa Pup loved Krazy and arrested Ignatz for throwing the bricks.
The picture was from a set of stamps commemorating early comic strips
Here is the full set

16. Replacing 'c's with 'k's was pretty revolutionary back in the day...
That Krazy Kat was a rebel.
