3. nominate that original thread for the Greatest
So Radical Activist's sexcapades, or lack thereof, gets off the top of the Greatest page. His post has been up there for a couple of hours.

4. I sent him the following e-mail
You would think that after writing a column for two years, you could manage it without having to fill it with random quotes and movie analogies that fail to drive your point across.
But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if you're another one of those representatives of the mainstream media that are actually on the Bush payroll. How many has it been now, four or five? I've lost count.
So as a member of the Democratic Underground, whom you refer to as "the enemy", I will remind you that not only more than 1,500 American troops have been killed in Iraq, but more than 160,000 Iraqi civilians as well.
That is one hell of a price to pay for the removal of a dictator who we both know was not responsible for 9/11 (where more than 3,000 American civilians were killed).
It's obvious that the only Ceausescu in a state of denial is you. So do us all a favor and take that shower cause you do stink.
By the way, thanks for the plug.

5. the point about the war not making us safer pissed me off
Like questioning the war is un-American. It just shows how intolerant of dissent they are that they feel threatened by web discussion boards.

Good letter.

I have thought about doing the same thing. I have relatives in the Chicago area and I plan to pass this on to them-maybe they to will write a LTTE.

8. Can't they afford a columnists who went to college?

This almost looks like satire.

I've been writing this column now for precisely two years. It happened rather by accident. In February 2003, I was angered by the frenzied, irrational opposition to a possible war in Iraq from those on the Angry Left.

Ok, international law and falsified evidence are no good reason to protest against a war. I see.

The boss said sure, give it a shot, and my first column appeared on March 2, 2003. I said today's pacifists are still brainwashed by the lessons of Dr. Spock, who taught Baby Boomers in the 1960s that violence is never the answer. Kids bullied on the playground are not allowed to hit back. Likewise, when bullied, America is not allowed to hit back either.

Wait a moment. Two paragraphs ago it was the "angry" left. And he might want to read the new Testament - just as a reminder that we are talking about the policy of a self-proclaimed Christian President.

Now I know different. Now I look back at a few of my early paragraphs in embarrassment. Now I'm leaning toward the "Tuco" approach. I refer to the 1967 Clint Eastwood movie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly."

Actually that was in the 1966 Sergio Leone Movie "Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo".

Another shortcoming is that I've failed to make it clear that I really do recognize that not all liberals are nitwits. Some are. Too many of 'em. But others are decent Americans who just happen to disagree with the way George Bush gets things done.

Name a single thing he got done.

There's no shortage of the newly honest liberal nowadays. You can hardly open a newspaper or magazine without reading some fervid Bush opponent painfully acknowledging that hey, maybe the president wasn't so wrong about the Middle East after all.

Sure. That's because being a journalist always means being a liberal. :eyes:

One such Ceausescu is Robert Fisk, a British journalist who has made a living out of hating America and Israel. In Lebanon, he says, "democracy, if it comes, will be drenched in blood."

Wow. a comparison to a dictator. How original.

But, as Sun Tzu, the famous ancient Chinese general, wrote, a fundamental rule of war is know your enemy. So let me tell you some of the things they say at DU.

Huh? Where does that come from? The connection to DU is really a display of l33t writing skills.

Bush is certainly doing so. It's one of the things that have allowed him to change the world. Soon he will be remembered along with FDR and Reagan.

Remembering him would be fine by me. Let's hope we'll to remembering instead of seeing him in inaction ASAP.

And he ain't no Chicago columnist. He's the layout editor of the suburban chain that prints his tripe.

Eric Zorn, a real columnist at the Chicago Tribune, has written approvingly of DU and Walt Starr.

Suddenly he never said Iraq was free, just that it is taking baby steps. I sent back a note asking if he is referring to those little baby truck bombs. No answer.

I also asked him why he was quoting a liberal like Frank Zappa, who was referring to HIM with those comments.
