Doctor Who fans - especially in Canada and/or if you hate Sci-fi channel: |
|
I won't say anything of "Rose", but "The End of the World" is phenomenally good.
Can't wait for a network in the US to pick it up. It's a shame because this new series seems to be infinitely better than ANYTHING sci-fi channel is airing. The remake of "Battleslop Galactica" NOT EXCEPTED.
Great storytelling, great acting, great attitude toward the human race, optimistic in tone despite it all... a wake-up call of a story.

The episode characters were very interesting compared to the "aliens" in other SF shows.
The visual effects were impressive too.

2. Interesting AND compelling. Jade was a way-cool character. |

Companion worthy, even.
And the f/x were terrific, something I did not expect.
I also apologize if I seemed to dis Battlestar... Dr Who is simply more inventive, more like real sci-fi and not "another military troupe in space" genre which is so empty of characters except for bland military types and trite.

3. I saw "Rose"....................... |
|
and was disappointed. I thought Eccelston was an alright Doctor, but I wished they would have trolled the actors pool a bit more to get someone with a few more eccentricities. However, since Eccelston will only be a temporary figure, this will not be a problem after this season.
Also, the whole episode felt rushed and cobbled together and the premise ridiculous. But I will wait to see some more episodes before passing judgment upon the rest of the series.
I have to strongly disagree with you on the new BSG series. I feel that the new BSG is far and away the best sci-fi series to be shown on TV in a LONG time. The storyline is chock-a-block with great metaphors, and I appreciate that its not top-heavy with technology. At first, I was resistant to the liberties the producers had made with some of the characters, but to my surprise, I find that all the changes work extraordinarily. I look forward to the next season.

4. I agree, 'Rose' is very disappointing. But if you find "End of the World" |

give it a chance. It's light years better.
I'll try BSG again at some point. While not as techobabbly, the characters seemed flat and neo-Starbuck blows chunks. I juts couldn't get into the actual series, though I'll readily admit that the miniseries rocked the house.
