means to become happy. methods they learned form parents or reactions to things that happened to them early in life.

the Shamans say that they have suffered soul loss, a piece of their soul was lost in some accident or pain or suffering, they try to make up for it by stealing someone Else's soul, it doesn't work so they keep doing it, it is the only thing they know.. if you can make someone suffer you can take a piece of their soul*.. likewise if you let someone cause you to suffer, you let them take a piece of the essence that was you.

Soul* is used for lack of a better term in western culture. The Shamans or Shaman Practitioners do a 'Soul Journey' to retrieve the pieces for people, depression and other common ailments in our culture are related to this.

Sandra Ingerman has books and tapes/CD's out, she has trained over 10,000 Practitioners. i have her "The Beginner's Guide to Shamanic Journeying.. a facinating work, avaible at www.soundstrue.com and probably used, cheaper at www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com. The way she explanes it makes A LOT of sence, and explaned a lot of confusion i had about things as a scientist.

12. I am usually not naturually mean

When I am, it is usually because I feel attacked in some way and am responding. I might occaisionally seem a little mean on DU if I am expressing a contrary opinion. Sometimes, I do post things that I do later regret when I realize how it obviously came across to someone else.

In my experience most of the people I've dealt with that are truly mean have unresolved personal issues. In other words their lives have made them bitter and they feel a need to spread the joy, or lack there of as the case may be.

I usually feel sorry for people like that. It's a sad life you're living if you can take joy in harming others.
