Now I'm paying for never seeing one episode of "Law and Order" |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 08:32 PM by DeposeTheBoyKing
I was in the legal-related pop culture trivia contest at our 3L party tonight. I was winning until the final question, when we had to wager our points. The other 2 contestants took a chance and wagered a lot of points, while I only wagered one. The question was "name the first three "Law and Order" spinoffs in order, earliest to latest." I have never watched any of "Law and Order" and had no idea, so I lost. The prize was a $25 gift certificate to a swanky Pittsburgh movie theater. I could have taken my husband when he visits in two weeks! Oh, well - at least I won a nice bag with "Pitt Law" embroidered on it in the raffle.
Edit: I was also ticked off because I was the high donor to the Class of 2005 and earned 19 raffle tickets for my donation. They said no one could win more than once and were setting down some tickets and redrawing occasionally; who knows what other goodies I might have won? I might have won the iPod Shuffle (but my friend Julie did, so I was happy about that).

1. But since you only wagered one point, perhaps you would have lost |
|
anyway? You didn't say.
Anyway, sorry to hear you that you lost the gift certificate. Very sad!!

One guy wagered 9 points. But I was winning, damn it! That'll teach me!

3. Well, you lost the gift certificate, sure. |
|
But think of how much better your brain is for not having spent countless hours watching a TV show!

5. Then it's okay that I've seen every Seinfeld episode 50 times each? |

4. You can always get money back. |
|
But if you watch a bunch of Law and Order episodes and hate them because of Fred R. Thompson then you can never get that time back.

... SVU, Criminal Intent, and Crime and Punishment?
Most people would forget about Crime and Punishment and say Trial by Jury.

13. Heck, I watch it and I don't even remember Crime and Punishment |
|
Is it even still on? Is it commonly referred to by a different name?

14. It was only on for about 5 episodes. |
|
The show was basically real life criminal trials and what goes on behind the scenes. I thought it was very good but it was probably a little to raw, and full of legal procedure for the general public.
I wish they would bring it back for a mid-season replacement.

16. I don't remember "The Jury". |
|
Crime and Punishment was based in a real prosecutors office in California. It was a real life show. Real life rapes, and murders. Pretty scary stuff really.

17. WOW, I probably would have liked that |
|
Too bad I missed it. The Jury was very similar but it was centered on the deliberations of the jury. The biggest problem with it, IMHO, was that they didn't give enough info on the trial itself for the viewer to be able to follow the deliberations. Sort of a short story version of Twelve Angry Men.

"In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate, yet equally important groups: The police, who investigate crimes and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories." (shoong shoong) John Who's probably seen every episode twice -- so it all balances out.
