It started with pain in my knee, which caused me to walk funny. Now my lumbar region is in a lot of pain. I tried heat and cold and I think it actually made the situation worse. I've been mostly in bed for a couple of days. It hurts.
I could go to a doctor, but I would need a ride back if given something strong. I don't know anyone who could give me a ride. Once again I'm not going to be able to take Darla to her foster home. :(
I have so much to do before my surgery and I'm sidelined with an injury that is--as far as I can tell--completely unrelated to the herniated discs in my neck. Meanwhile, the trash piles up. I can't take it out. Ugh, someone cheer me up, 'kay? :)

1. Most doctors will prescribe Vicodin (Capn V), for that type of pain. |
|
That'll take care of the pain, but its addicting.

9. I was on Vicodin for awhile and it didn't touch my neck pain. |
|
Norco, which is the same stuff only a different mixture, helped, but Vicodin didn't.
My doctor doesn't work on Fridays and I don't want to go to a germ-filled ER. I'm very conscious about germs right now. There was a girl registering right next to me when I was waiting for the dentist and she said she was sick and that it was very contagious.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wtf: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Then why did you come to a dental appointment!?" I yelled. "Geez! A lot of people here can't afford to get sick, either. I have to have surgery in a few weeks. Thanks a lot."
I'm usually not like this, but I was really pissed. :( God, why am I so bitchy lately?

2. In regards to ice and heat |
|
Always use the ice first to get the swelling down. Then use heat.
You ought to go to the doctor - they will most likely not give you something right there but would write you a scrip for pain medication that you could take at home.
Are you having a cervical fusion? I had one last year and I'm very happy with it. If you have any questions or concerns about it, feel free to PM me.

10. I may do that. :) Thanks |
|
HypnoToad just had that surgery and gave me some ideas.
I'd like to get back to him, too. :)
I did do the ice first, but it didn't seem to help. It felt like the muscles around my pelvic girdle were tight, forcing me to stoop. The ice just shriveled it up more. :) I don't know anatomy as well as I could, but that is what it felt like.
Then I thought heat would loosen things up. I was stupid and burned myself...right on the ass. :D Now heat doesn't feel good back there. I wish I could go to a massage therapist...I think that would release the muscles. But...no money, eh?

11. Someone was going to come down and at least take the trash out... |
|
...and do a few things, but she's so far out in the sticks she actually has to import her sticks from us. It's snowing up where she lives. :)
The Sierra Nevadas are wonderful, full of all kinds of ecosystems as you go from rolling foothills to high mountains. I just wish the local crazy-ass fundies would go to North Carolina and join the group that wants to secede. That would be fine with me. Why are there so many fundies here??????

6. Yeah, there's one there, too. |

But the neurosurgeon said it was a small one and shouldn't cause much pain. Um, whatever. :)

Actually, I'm doing a bit better today. If it isn't much better by tomorrow, I may have to go play with the germs at the prompt care place.

...like you need both a good physician and an even better chiropractor.
About 18 months ago, I dislocated a pair of ribs. No idea I'd done it at the time, but over the course of about 3 weeks, I became increasingly debilitated with extreme pain and muscle spasms. Couldn't sleep, and even the pain meds and muscle relaxants didn't really help.
The doctor couldn't really do more than treat the pain. It took the chiropractor to correctly diagnose the problem and push those ribs back into place.
Within days, I was feeling better.
Anyway, I know this isn't your problem, but I do think a good chiropractor could do you a world of good.
*hugs*

17. Thanks. I may try a chiropractor, but he'd need to see my MRI... |
|
...before he could do anything. I don't have the recent MRI on hand. It's at UC Davis. :(
Thanks for the hug. That helps.
