Organizing people at the grass roots is just not what they do. Why should they when they control a huge corporate media machine? They can rely on gobs and gobs of money for hours and hours of feel good ads, biographical ads, attack ads, issue ads and propaganda ads. Remember that much of the Republican base is white and upper middle class: these are people who do not really need to be mobilized to go and vote on election day to the same extent as the Democratic base. Voting is already civic habit for them. Among the Democratic base, however, many constituencies need to be encouraged to vote or even helped. All one has to do it read the posts from people on this board who say that if their candidate does not win the nomination, they will pick up their marbles and either not vote or vote Green.
