Just wondering in what post count range the Loungers fall into.

I tend to be an introvert (I lurk a lot), but occasionally a subject will 'peak' my interests.

2. At what point is someone no longer a newbie?

This got me wondering.
I don't usually care if someone is new. If they post something that sounds freeperish I will still wonder, even if they have 10,000 posts.

12. I only have 850 posts, but have been here for a while...

My brother has like 8 million posts...I don't go on DU as much as I used to...according to my brother, there are a lot of suspect people, and I don't recognize a lot of the new names lately....so I bet there are a lot of Freepers doing their damage...I guess you can tell who they are when certain subjects come up as/re: Terri Schiavo, etc....I certainly hope that these people will either get out of this discussion group or that you people that are more vigilant will drive them out.

Sometimes someone will reveal that they're a Freeper, even though they have a few thousand posts, and, other times, I have read something incredibly wise from an obvious newbie. You never know.:shrug:

...click on the option folder above the forum menu...after that page is loaded, go to user profiles (it used to have its own icon on the main menu), and click on that, you can search for your name there, and once you find your profile you can see your number of posts.

next to where it says (1000+) there's a letter icon, then a person's head icon. Click on that person icon and the second line down shows the actual post count.

And you totally have me down, as well. That's what I wrote. It's been mainly about my dogs, these days, since both have been sick, and we have another vet visit scheduled for tomorrow. And the cooking I've been doing has been mainly for them, per my vet's instructions.*sigh*

And, though I used to shoot competitively, I no longer own a gun, and am definitely on the side of gun control.

Like little boys seeing who can spit the farthest. It doesn't mean anything but it's fun to do it.

And it's cool to chip in and help someone hit that perfect number or to be so close and have everyone rally round and help you make it. A small pointless thing. But small pointless things build a community.

Granted, there may be no good reason for it but I feel a special affection for those people who cheered me on and those people I've cheered on. We're a virtual community scattered all over - we can't have barnraisings or housewarmings. So we have this instead - consider it a sort of virtual housewarming party. A show of camaraderie and affection for people we'll never meet in real life. An acknowledgement that you belong to this community.
