W VA Lawmakers Voted To Make English Official Language - Without Knowing
:eyes:

<snip>

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Some lawmakers in West Virginia are surprised to learn that a few days ago they voted to make English the official language of the state.

The language was inserted into a bill that deals with the number of members that cities can appoint to boards of parks and recreation.

It was put in there by the Senate majority whip as a flurry of bills were moving back and forth between the House and Senate on Saturday. And he said he told legislators the amendment "clarifies the way in which documents are produced."

However, one lawmaker who has fought English-only bills said, "It's wrong that's something like that was snuck into that bill in the last minute."

2. If only they could READ the language
That tends to come in handy.

This reminds me of the goof by the Repub lead Va. Gen. Assembly when they unknowingly passed "blue law" legislation that would let people DEMAND a day of sabbath off. They hurried back to correct that-we just can't have the workers making demands now can we?
