What do you think is the biggest thing that Andrew Jackson did wrong?
A: Move the Native Americans from their Homeland.
OR
B: Get rid of the Bank of the United States(BUS).

1. The genocide against Native Americans ranks right up there --
-- with me.

A colorful but limited man who should be the subject of a serious film by Robert Altman.

Just a thought.

Guilty of cruel and wanton murder. Obviously, I am not a big fan of Old Hickory.

7. Remember that he was following the Jefferson plan
Either Removal or Assimilation. It was many of the citizens that wanted a third, death to all.

4. Answer is A
Even when Congress told him the Cherokee had a right to be there in Georgia, his attitude to congress was, Let 'em try to stop me. I don't need anyone's persmission. Bring 'em on.

5. This is just me going out on a limb,
but I would have to say it was his merciless slaughter of native Americans.

I used to think he was such a cool guy in my youth. Not a lot of heroes left from the beginning of the country.

9. my roommate raised this point a couple of weeks ago
that if you're going to judge pretty much any of our presidents, you have to ignore what they did to the indians, because they all did it. every single one of em, massacred the shit out of all of em. so you kind of have to push that aside otherwise they would all be terrible presidents. (and he's a quarter cherokee)

10. Well A
because, in addition to the stand alone awfulness of the deed, he was also sending a big 'FUCK YOU!' to the Supreme Court who had ruled against his doing this very thing.

I won't be boycotting $20 bills because of it, though.

13. Trail of Tears
mass forced resettlement and genocide caused not by cultural conflict (after all the Cherokee were called "civilised") but by pure greed for land.
