A couple of questions.
How do you pronounce it? And is anyone from around there?

Or so I gather from a friend who grew up there (and couldn't wait to move out).

It's a convenient roughly-halfway point between two other places. I'm just kinda curious as to what's in the neighborhood, or the 50-mile radius. ;-)

10. Chillicothe is really on the leading edge of Appalachia |

you are about 50 miles from Columbus, 20 from Circleville (home of the Pumpkin Show, or fondly referred to as Round Town)
It has been a few years since I was in Chilli...but I am sure it has grown, especially around its edges.
Chillicothe was Ohio's first capital, and everyone should take in the live Tecumseh show that runs through the summer.
Other than that..typicall Midwest town with some history and neat architecture in its heart...mostly large farms surrounding it, and beware...State Route 23 is a speed trap.
