It is raining and thundering
here in Phoenix, Love it! Well, like most rains here, it lasted for two minutes. Hopefully the rain will return. I hear the thunder. It is humid outdoors, might have to turn on the costly AC.

1. Do they still pump water into peoples' yards?
I lived there briefly during the late '60's. All the yards were bermed. One night a week the city would pump water into our yard. I really loved it. Then summer showed up.

2. No, but
I live on flat land, guess they don't need to do this in my area of course, I've not heard of this here. It would be nice if they pumped water into my yard, save me lots of money.

4. Interesting
I was there a week ago today and it was hot, dry and sunny when we visited the Heard Museum and the Desert Botanical Gardens. Both places rocked!

5. We lived right off Central Av.
It was flat there too. They would pump the water into the yards at night and then pump it out again about dawn. The population was a lot smaller then. I'm sure the demands on the water system are many times greater now. The thing that stands out most in my memory is the number and variety of birds. All in all I remember Phoenix very fondly. Enjoy your Spring.

6. The pump
maybe was before my time -- moved here at the end of '77, bought my first home in '93.
