Penn Gillette- great funnyman/magician or obnoxious twit?

I dunno-- I've just never found him to be that funny. I know he's highly intelligent and a prolific writer on many subjects, and he's appeared in more than one movie and at quite a few teevee shows, but to me his comedy usually ends up being a lot like fingernails on a chalkboard. Perhaps that's the point, but I sure do wish he'd imitate Teller occasionally (that is to say, STFU!!).

Just curious as to what the greater consensus is on da man.

On the other hand, speaking of comedy, I'm madly in love with Judy Tenuda, so what does that say about me??? :shrug: :evilgrin:

I had Ultracet for this sinus infection, and it hardly touched the stabbing pain behind my cheekbones. Not as good as the ol' standby Percocet. And Ultram and its variations can't be had in generic, so I paid $52 for it!

I saw PJ once with his old band Bongos, Bob and Bass. He got "intoxificated" and began scraming into the microphone "Shirley MacLaine is a C**t!" I suppose that was his paen to "Skeptic" culture.

He's got mad skills, no doubting it, but the man is a twit. More to the point, he's the nerds' pet bully. "Tell 'em, Penn! Tell 'em they need Extraordiary Evidence, Penn! Tell 'em!"

Still a valuable show for teaching critical thinking. Unfortunately, the people who need it the most probably aren't watching.

He can be grating sometimes, but I really enjoy Bullshit, when I get to see it.

I don't always agree with their conclusions, but I usually do. And I have no problem with them being of a different mindset than myself.

I agree with them on most social issues and their criticism of PETA really hit the spot - who'd have thunk it, they were killing animals themselves, while their members were out howling at the Humane Society for being "murderers". I've always thought those groups were nuts, but as a good little liberal, didn't criticise them too harshly.

Also, the bit on genetically engineered food was really something.

If they're drawing the wrath of those on the left AND those on the right, they must be doing something right!
