SNOW In Southern Colorado - AGAIN!!!!! |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 07:16 AM by CO Liberal
I woke up this morning to find it snowing outside my window. The forecast is for snow, freezing rain, fogg, and drizzle all day. They're reporting that there are patches of black ice on the Interstate, and I-25 is being closed on the north side of Colorado Springs due to numerous accidents.
So far, no one is on weather delay. This means that people (including myself) will be slipping and sliding in Colorado Springs this morning.
It should be a fun commute..... :sarcasm:

My peach tree is zapped, no peaches this year. We are suppose to be in the 70's by now, so sick of this cold weather. I checked out the 7 day forcast and there is no end in sight....GRRRR!!

I'm seriously debating whether I'm going to get to see Hitchhiker's today or not.
It's still coming down, it's the wet stuff, and it's sticking pretty badly.
I got used to warm weather. My feet are cold.

The Princess and I moved to the Pueblo area ten years ago this week, so I could take a job at QualMed. When we arrived here from Nevada, there was six inches of snow on the ground....

6. Yep - I came up here the same time. |

Weird, huh?
My theory is this: There will be snow through the end of April. Period. May 12 is planting day, but be prepared to cover the tomatoes at least once. First frost is generally mid september, but if you cover the tomatoes, they'll be okay until the second week of October.
It will snow on Halloween. It won't snow on the wednesday before thanksgiving or on thanksgiving, but it will snow on the day your annoying parents/inlaws are due to go back to whatever hole they crawled out of, and will have to stay an extra day, even if it means having to take a day of work off to get their butts back to the airport.
It won't snow on Christmas, the the same rules apply as to thanksgiving.

I live in Pueblo West, which is a planned community ten miles west of Pueblo (hence the name).
My daily commute is around 45 miles each way - it's a bit higher the days that I work out at Schriever Air Force Base. But since the commute is mostly along I-25, it only takes me around 50 minutes each way.
I had worse commutes when I lived in New Jersey.

although it did snow here in SW PA two weekends ago, after a lot of beautiful June-like spring weather. Then it flurried last weekend. Weird. Now it's back to 50s and rainy, what I call Seattle weather.

16. Pueblo and Colorado Springs Are Only About 30 or 40 Miles Apart |
|
The last I-25 exit in Pueblo (Eagleridge Drive) is at Mile Marker 102. The first exit in Colorado Springs (S. Academy Drive) is at Mile Marker 135.

Mostly yesterday afternoon. What fell overnight turned to rain, luckily. Times like this make me wish I was in southern CA already...

11. When We Moved Here From Nevada Ten Years Ago This Week... |
|
...we only got as far as Kingman AZ the first day, because of high winds blowing our Hertz/Penske truck all over US 93. The next day, we hit snow driving through Flagstaff, and again in Santa Fe, NM. We spent the night in Santa Fe, and arrived in Pueblo the next afternoon to find six inches of snow on the ground.
