I don't believe this South Beach diet is working |
|
I am for sure, the biggest skeptic when it comes to diet claims. So I took it upon myself, if an effort to lose some weight, to try a diet. The diet I choose was the South beach diet.
And to make a long story short, I started this diet last Monday. I decided to weigh myself today, although originally I was going to wait for two week, I stepped on the scale this morning only to find I have lost 5 pounds already.. No way!! I must be dreaming.. All that salad and protien only is working.. I cannot wait to see the results once I start to exercise more..
I have set a goal to lose 20 lbs by July 1, never thinking I would come close, but now it might be a realistic possibility..

But my best advice for dieting is to simply lower your intake (food) and increase your output (exercise). The south beach diet is good because it relies on lean meats and lowers the carb intake. I never liked the Atkins because I just can't wrap my brain around the idea that high fatty meat foods are good.

2. You lost water weight, not fat |

those protein diets are good for giving you a jump start but only because they motivate you and make you feel better. Don't stick to low carbs for too long, or your matabolism will slow down too much. They have wonderful products now like low carb breads that can help balance your diet and still lower the level of carbs. The real work comes with the exercise though. Good for you! Keep it up.

I lost 20 lbs when I was strictly following the plan. I have gained back 5 when I went from 25 carbs a day to 50 carbs a day during the week, and relaxing a little on the weekend and having fun things to eat once in a while. I think I will lose that 5 lbs again now that spring is here and I can get outside more and be more active.
I no longer eat bread, potatoes, or pasta, but I do have tortilla wraps, and occasionally will have chips at lunch. I just got a blood test for a physical so we will see how my cholesterol is doing...

5. My South Beach experience |
|
I lasted one day! By dinnertime, I was nauseous and as I was cleaning up the kitchen, I came close to passing out. My husband insisted I have a piece of bread. I did and felt much better.
Some of us just aren't cut out to cut out carbs, I guess. :eyes:

8. Considering I am a carbo junkie |
|
I found myself craving carbo's after the second day but said I would give this diet a chance and no carbo's. And inasmuch as I cannot confirm eating salad's and protein all week dontributed to my weight loss, I will this diet up for a while..
I do miss the carbo's but that's giong away too. I feel I have more energy without carb's.. Now that's not to say I'll have a carbo meal every once in awhile as I realise how the importances of carbos' too.
See you all in another week with more results..

9. Here's a diet for the ages... |
|
When I was 16 I decided it was finally time to lose all this weight I was carrying around (that was about 2 years ago). I had more willpower to lose the weight than ever before, and to top that off I was majorly upset at myself at having ever gotten 30 pounds overweight. So, with more masochism than common sense, my self imposed diet consisted of:
Breakfast: none Lunch: one turkey or tuna sandwich, half a can of fruit, diet soda Dinner: as little as I could possibly eat of whatever mom made, or just a cup of instant soup and 5 crackers.
Along with exercise I lost 30 pounds in 4-5 months. Would I ever do that again? No way. Did it work at the time? You betcha. Would I recommend it for others? Only for the hardest of the hardcore. Am I glad I did it? Yes.
