Mashed potatoes? Rice? Pasta? I'm making corn bread too.

19. I don't know why I flashed on the subjectline and thought about hash-
browns with onions.

I could make some steak fries in the oven, but I think mashed would be better with the sauce, some greens and corn bread.

I gotta lot to do in the next 2 hours.

3. Potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, and of course cornbread.
They are the only acceptable side dishes when serving ribs. I think it's a law somewhere.

Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 02:41 PM by scarlett1
Ribs need a Fried potato side, they don't even need to be French Fries just cut up a potato and an onion add some garlic. If Pasta, only as a pasta salad, but cole slaw is better.

But I'm from Green Bay, small city of slaughterhouses, it's ok to do the mashed potatoes or rice, pasta is a "new Europe" dish any day of the week!

18. With those choices I'd say pasta
but I'd make it a pasta salad. you need something crisp and light to go with the heavy ribs. The previously mentioned cole slaw is great, but some crunchy veggies (nothing exotic, thin sliced carrots and parboiled broccoli or green beans would be great) with any kind of pasta would be swell.

Some olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano... yum.

24. I know everybody says...
baked potatoes, baked beans, corn on the cob, and some kind of cold salad. That's the rule. Maybe even a law in some places.

But, why eat like a Republican?

Do the ribs with a Brazilian dry rub, serve up some roasted asparagus with bernaise sauce, green salad, cauliflower with cheese sauce, roasted butternut squash, and serve with French wine, French bread, and German beer.

And have a big ol' bowl of grits hanging out there just for the hell of it.
