So who's going to Disneyland for its 50th Anniversary?
I am - next Sunday-Tuesday w/wife and 7.5 month old son.

Roy Disney Jr.'s website has a lot of info and great links to the celebration: www.savedisney.com

1. I do feel a moral obligation

It's only a few miles away

And I first went there in 1956. Does that mean I have to wait until next year for my 50-year anniversary with it ?

5. What year was DisneyWorld's 25th Anniversary?
I've been there twice, but don't know.

I made it to Disneyland's 40th Anniversary 10 years ago, though.

4. Visiting the disney site, I was saddened to read that Joe Grant just
passed away last Friday at 96. What an amazing guy and what a contribution he made to Disney animation:

Tentatively this month for one evening and later this year! That will be a first time...

15. We're on the same page!
Definitely this Sunday and tentatively late October-early November. (We went Nov. 13 in 2003 and the weather was warm, Christmas decorations were up, and the crowd was small - no big lines to stand in).

8. Does it count if I'm going to Disney World...
to celebrate Disneyland's 50th anniversary?

California is too far to travel right now. So, we're doing The World instead. Unfortunately, not until June 2006, but the celebration will still be happening.

9. Interesting question. Does anyone know if Disneyworld, which apparently
celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1997 (and 30th in 2002) will also be celebrating Disneyland's 50th this year (from May 5, 2005 to May 5 2006)?

10. WDW is also celebrating the 50th of Disneyland
We will likely be going to both Disneyland and WDW this year. In August, we will be at Disneyland (the in-laws live in Orange County). In October we will be visiting WDW.

We hope to get to WDW next spring. And we may return to Disneyland again next fall.

We just can't seem to stay away.

12. We went to WDW last October and LOVED it
When we do Disneyland, we are visiting family so it is at far less expense.

We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort (on the Disney property) and are absolutely enamored. The grounds are beautiful, the service is impeccable and the benefits of staying onsite are out of this world.

I am a certified Disney addict. Disney is about the only place where I can drop my cynicism and just be childlike.

us all to feel like impressionable and fascinated children again. The more I learn about it the more I appreciate the detail that went into creating the environments.

As for the benefits of staying on a Disney property, I agree - we'll be staying at the Disneyland Hotel again - from the elevator, walk out one door and you're in the pool area, walk out the one behind it and you're in Downtown Disney, and a short walk to the parks.

28. Can you think of a more inspiring figure in history?
I can't - look at all the ugly things done in Jesus' name throughout history. I can't imagine that happening to Disney.

And Mohammed? Fuggheddaboutit!

I think I'm morphing into a "Disnyan" - with the fundies turning "Christian" into a dirty word, I can no longer identify...

Don't think we'll make it this year, though - we have two other trips to budget for (one to MN to see family and one to the Oregon coast).

I used to live right next to disneyland in Anaheim, C.A. and i've been in that theme park around 45-50 times. Michael Eisner and the gang have enough of my money already.

32. I wish they would start it on the actual day
July 17th is the 50th anniversary.

The only reason I care is that it is my birthday, but Disneyland is a few years older than me. :-)

33. Well, sort of
I'm going to WDW in two weeks with my toddler. I have a family wedding to go to in Melbourne and it's going to be grim. Everyone who is going to be there will be a * supporter. The groom is my godson and he sends me lots of freeperish type articles all the time about how well the US military is doing in Iraq and how * is a fantastic president. I finally had to tell him to stop sending them - that I cared about him, but didn't care about his politics. So, as a treat, afterwards we two gals are heading over to WDW for a quick 2 day visit. I can't wait.
