4. Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore." |
|
Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly, Though its answer little meaning- little relevancy bore; For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being Ever yet was blest with seeing bird above his chamber door- Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door, With such name as "Nevermore."

7. I'll never forget the day NPR read that poem on Poe's birthday |
|
Just as it ended, i turned onto the street in front of my house, and there was a raven, sitting in the middle of the road, watching me, as though he were about to speak...
I think it was Ray Lewis.

12. My childhood piano teacher had a parrot ... |
|
... that used to yell out "Lenore! Lenore!" during my lesson (that was the piano teacher's name).
It always reminded me of the Raven poem.
Friggin' bird! No wonder I can't play the piano to this day (that, and I had no discipline or talent!).
Oh yeah, and my teacher's toy poodle used to bite my ankles during my lesson, too. Moral: Don't take piano lessons in the zoo.
