Just saw "Bend It Like Beckham"
Edited on Sat Oct-25-03 09:45 PM by Finnfan
It's a shame, in the six months since this movie opened in theaters it has aged tremendously. In it, the girls dream of going to America, where women can get paid to play soccer. Alas, that dream ended about a month ago, when the WSL (do I have that acronym right?) folded.

As for the movie, it was good, if a bit conventional. The best part was Juliet Stevenson (one of my favorite actresses) as Keira Knightly's mom.

2. Romance, ball throwing, music, comedy, I liked it a lot!

It isn't often you find a movie that really does have something for everybody. You can put this on no matter who happens to need entertaining, and they will be happy!

I just have a soft spot in my heart for Juliet Stevenson, ever since "Truly, Madly, Deeply". :loveya:

9. Very fun movie, great soundtrack
I also like Juliet Stevenson. And it's gratifying to see a movie which shows fathers in a positive, supportive way. My son played club, league and school varsity soccer so I grew to really enjoy soccer, which was not a sport I was familiar with growing up. I miss seeing him play, especially on a beautiful autumn day like today.
