"The West Wing" is moving to Sunday |
|
Kiss of Death Slot. Not too surprising when the series is just about over. "NBC is moving the political drama "The West Wing" to Sunday nights, with the campaign to replace Martin Sheen as the mythical president continuing." http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=761386&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312

It will probably be on opposite Desperate Housewives, which means I'll have to always tape one or the other and watch the next night. It was bad enough they cancelled American Dreams, but moving West Wing to Sundays is really bad news because ABC is very strong that night and it will most likely fail.

that's crazy. Although I think a show with either Smits or Alda as Pres. could be quite intriguing.

Why do I think it will fail? Why are they moving it? Hard to tell what you were referring to.
Now I found out it will be on at 8:00, opposite Extreme Makeover. I can give that up for WW -- I used to for American Dreams. I still think it will have problems, as EM has a huge audience, but that's better than being opposite Desperate Housewives.

2. Well, I'll still watch it! |
|
If it airs opposite Desperate Housewives, I will tape it! I read the article and all it says is Sunday night. I can't believe they'd put it up against the #1 hit show DH.
BTW, why do you say it's the kiss of death to be on Sunday night? I really never pay attention to which nights are popular, and I'm just curious.

8. Moving an established show from its time slot is nearly always |
|
the 'kiss of death'. Sunday is usually problematic, and traditionally a graveyard for relocated established shows. That doesn't put the knock on Sunday overall, just for shows that 'move in'.

5. Actually I think it is a good night for it |
|
Sunday night has one of the biggest viewing nights available. It might actually reinvigorate the show.

I thought Friday and Saturday nights were the "kiss of death," seeing as no one's home.
They were up against "Alias" on Wednesdays.
Either way, I'll definitely be watching.

6. Well it appears that NBC has lost faith in WW |
|
Why must they move this show to the only other night of the week that I actually watch TV? So now I officially don't watch prime time TV 6 nights a week. I have a feeling that this is the last season of The West Wing

7. I just read the article and the problem with NBC and every other network |
|
is too many damn reality shows. NBC is putting two more on this fall. God, I wish this reality show nonsence would end. It is anything but reality.

10. Indeed! "Reality" -- Bullshit! |
|
They've just hidden the script by calling it 'guidance'. Give me real scripts and real actors playing fiction over 'reality' ANY day in the week.

12. One of these days people will come to their senses |
|
and stop watching these damn reality shows. I mean how many times does someone eating pig rectums need to be shown on TV before people will just lose interest. Honestly PBS has the best programming on TV, and I know that sounds like such a liberal elite statement but it's true.

13. THANK YOU! I thought I was just too old and not with it anymore. |
|
I hate all the "reality" shows, and never watch them! I figured, since the networks were airing so many of them, and they are vieing for the 25 to 49 crowd, it just must be me. I'm sure glad to hear there is at least ONE other person who hates them too!

I haven't gotten into Deadwood yet at all, but I'm totally hooked on The Sopranos and Six Feet Under. Lucky for me, I've got the full HBO lineup, so these shows repeat during the week. Same can't be said for all HBO subscribers, who'll now have to make choices.

20. Six Feet Under is on in the summer, so that's not a problem -- |
|
plus, I heard it's moving the Mondays. The Sopranos won't be back until 2006. And, I checked the NBC site and WW will be on at 8, not 9, so it may not be as much of an issue.

I liked it where it was, but at least it is still on.
on edit: and Sunday might not be bad. Desperate Housewives is managing.
